How to create a private chat in air

Note: If you are using air in Microsoft Teams, the chat function in air is disabled.

You can create a private chat with any other member of your organisation or Impact staff by creating a private #topic.

If you create a topic you are the owner of the topic and you will be part of the chat conversations in that topic. You can not create a private chat topic on behalf of other people which you are not a part of - they have to create their own private chats.

To create a private chat topic with someone else, do the following:

  1. Click 'New Topic' at the top of your chat group list to create a new topic.
  2. Give your new chat topic a name and if you like add a description. You can also change the image for this topic.
  3. Set the topic to private so only you and other people you add can access it.
  4. Click Add participants then use the search bar to find the people you want to add. Select the users name and click Done. If a person's name shows in italics, they are already a member of the group.
Note: You can add as many people as you want to your private chat, just keep filtering the list and clicking on the name to make it italic.
  5. Click Done when you have selected all the people you want to add to your private chat topic.
  6. Click Save to create the chat topic.
